My Jobs — the install board for independent installers

Who it's for

My Jobs is the work-home for an independent installer — an account set up as an installer (not a shop) during first-run setup. Instead of the full job board and shop dashboard, you get one focused screen: the jobs that have been assigned to you. It's deliberately stripped down to "what do I install next?" with none of the shop-management clutter.

Where it fits

My Jobs sits in the production stage of the job workflow. A shop books and prepares a job on their own Jobs board, then assigns it to you; the moment it's assigned, it lands here. It's the installer's everyday landing page — for installer accounts, My Jobs replaces Home in the navigation. See personas.md for the standard roles and installers.md for how the installer network and payments work around it.

Overview

My Jobs is a single page at /my-jobs showing every job currently assigned to you, as a grid of cards. There are no kanban columns, no stage drag-and-drop, no customer database, and no settings — just the jobs that are yours to work, newest activity first. Tapping a card opens the full job so you can see the details. It's read-focused: a clean shortlist you can scan on a phone from the shop floor.

Screens & navigation

My Jobs (/my-jobs) For installer accounts this is the first item in the sidebar (and the bottom bar on mobile), labelled My Jobs — it takes the slot a shop owner would see as Home. You reach it automatically when you sign in.

  • A heading — "My jobs" — with a count underneath (e.g. "3 jobs assigned to you").
  • A grid of job cards, one per assigned job.
  • Tap any card to open that job's full detail.

If nothing is assigned yet, you'll see an empty state: "Nothing assigned right now" with the note "Jobs assigned to you will show up here."

Capabilities

See your assigned work

  • View every job a shop has assigned to you, in one grid.
  • Each card shows the job number, the current stage (a colored badge), the customer name, and the vehicle (year / make / model) when it's on file.
  • A header count tells you how many jobs are on your plate.

Open a job for the details

  • Tap a card to open the full job, where you can read everything the shop attached — scope, photos, and notes — to do the install.

What you won't find here (by design): the kanban board, customer and vehicle management, quoting/invoicing, inventory, or settings. My Jobs is intentionally just your assignment list. Hire requests, messages, and getting paid live in your installer surfaces — see Installers.

Step-by-step tasks

  1. Check what's assigned to you

    1. Sign in — you land on My Jobs.
    2. Scan the grid; each card shows the customer, vehicle, and current stage.
    3. The count at the top tells you how many jobs are waiting.
  2. Open a job to start work

    1. Tap the job card.
    2. Review the full job detail — the vehicle, the scope, and any photos or notes the shop added.
    3. Do the install; coordinate anything else with the shop through Messages.
  3. When nothing's there yet

    1. An empty board means no job has been assigned to you.
    2. Jobs appear here automatically the moment a shop assigns one to you — nothing to refresh or claim.

Settings & permissions

  • Who sees My Jobs. It's the work-home for installer-type accounts — accounts without dashboard access. Owners and shop staff see Home instead. Either way, you need the Jobs permission to view any job screen.
  • How a job reaches you. A shop assigns a job to your account on their Jobs board; only jobs assigned to you appear here. You can't pull in jobs yourself.
  • No setup of its own. My Jobs has no settings — it's a view. Your profile, payouts, and messages live in your installer surfaces.

Tips & common pitfalls

  • It's an assignment list, not the whole app. If you're looking for the kanban board, customers, or invoicing, this isn't it — those belong to the shop. My Jobs shows only the jobs that are yours.
  • Empty just means unassigned. A blank board isn't a bug; it means no shop has assigned you a job yet.
  • Tap through for the real detail. The card is a summary; open the job to see the scope, photos, and notes you need for the install.
  • Built for the phone. My Jobs is in the mobile bottom navigation, so you can check your next install from the floor.
  • Installers — the freelance network: your public listing, hire requests, messages, escrow payments, and payouts.
  • Jobs — the shop-side board where jobs are created and assigned to you.
  • Onboarding — the first-run picker where you choose "independent installer" and become an installer account.
