AI (Wraptor AI) — your shop's wrap-expert assistant, on every page
Who it's for
Wraptor AI is for the owner, manager, or designer who wants a knowledgeable second opinion without leaving the app — someone diagnosing a lifting edge, checking a state's tint law, sanity-checking quote hours for a tricky vehicle, or just asking "what's going on in my shop today?" It's built to talk like a seasoned master installer who has seen a thousand shops, and it knows your shop's live numbers too.
Where it fits
Wraptor AI shows up two ways. There's a dedicated AI Assistant page with a chat and a knowledge base, and there's a slide-out panel you can pop open from any screen — so help is one click away whether you're on the Jobs board, a quote, or the calendar. Because the assistant can see your live shop data (active jobs, low stock, recent quotes), its answers reference real job numbers and real customers, not generic advice. See workflow-map.md for the lifecycle and personas.md for who works where.
Overview
Wraptor AI gives you three things in the slide-out panel and a fuller workspace on its own page:
- Assistant (chat) — ask anything: install troubleshooting (bubbling, silvering, adhesive tunneling), vehicle-specific quirks, surface prep, film technique by brand (3M, Avery, Oracal, KPMF…), tint laws for all 50 states, PPF coverage, warranty rules, removal difficulty, and color/letter-sizing theory. It also answers questions about your shop ("which jobs are stuck?", "what's low in inventory?").
- Alerts — proactive suggestions the assistant surfaces about your shop (things worth your attention).
- Team — your team chat lives in the same panel (see Messages).
- Knowledge Base (on the AI page) — upload your own documents (PDFs, text, markdown) or pull in files already attached to jobs, so the assistant can reference your shop's own SOPs, warranty docs, and spec sheets.
A key safety rule: the assistant suggests, it never acts. It will say "Want me to draft that?" — but it won't change your data on its own. You stay in control.

Settings & permissions
Who can use it Wraptor AI is controlled by the AI permission. By default that's Manager and Designer roles; Production and Installer roles don't have it out of the box. The panel button may appear for anyone, but the Assistant and Alerts tabs only work for team members whose role includes AI — others will be told they don't have access. (The Team tab follows your Messaging permission, separately.)
Plans and credits The core Assistant and Knowledge Base aren't metered — if your role has AI access, you can chat and build your knowledge base on any plan. The other AI features around Wraptor — the AI Writer for newsletters and captions, and Studio image/video generation — do draw on your monthly AI-credit allowance and may require a paid plan. See Plans.
Where AI also shows up Beyond this module, AI is embedded across Wraptor: drafting quote line items (Quotes), sorting and replying to mail (Inbox), writing newsletters and captions (Marketing), generating showcase media (Studio), and calibrating your rate card during Onboarding.
Tips & common pitfalls
- It advises, you act. The assistant won't change jobs, send emails, or edit data on its own — it'll ask first. Treat its output as expert input, not an autopilot.
- Give it context. Open the chat from a specific job, or mention the film, vehicle, and symptom — specific questions get specific, cited answers.
- Feed it your own docs. Upload your SOPs, warranty terms, and spec sheets to the Knowledge Base so answers reflect your shop, not just general best practice.
- Only PDF/TXT/MD import. When importing a job file into the knowledge base, only PDFs, text, and markdown can be processed.
- Two chat spots, two histories. The full-page Chat and the panel Assistant keep separate conversation histories — that's expected.
- No AI access on some roles. If a teammate can't use the assistant, check their role — Production and Installer don't include AI by default; a manager can grant it in Team → Roles.
