How Much Does PPF Cost in 2026? Paint Protection Film Pricing Explained
Real paint protection film pricing for 2026 — partial front, full front, track packages, and full-body coverage, plus why install quality matters more with PPF than any other film product.

Table of Contents
Paint protection film is the most expensive film product per square foot in the vehicle world — and the one where cheap installs go wrong most expensively. Here's what PPF actually costs in 2026, package by package, and how to not waste the money.
2026 PPF Price Ranges
| Coverage | Typical price | What's covered |
|---|---|---|
| Partial front ("starter") | $900–$1,500 | Partial hood + fenders, bumper, mirror caps |
| Full front | $1,500–$2,500 | Full hood, full fenders, bumper, mirrors, headlights |
| Track package | $2,500–$4,500 | Full front + rockers, A-pillars, roof edge, impact areas |
| Full body | $5,000–$8,000+ | Every painted panel |
Add-ons: door cup/edge kits $100-$250, headlights $100-$200, rocker panels $400-$700. Exotic and complex-bodied cars push past these ranges — more curves, more patterns, more labor.
Why PPF Costs More Than a Wrap
A full color-change wrap on a car runs $3,000-$3,500, while full-body PPF starts around $5,000. Three reasons:
- •The film itself is 2-3x the cost — PPF is a thick (8 mil) self-healing urethane, not 3 mil decorative vinyl
- •Tolerance is zero — PPF is optically clear; every speck of dust, every stretch mark, every misaligned edge is visible forever on top of your paint
- •Pattern precision — quality shops plot computer-cut patterns per panel, and the good ones hand-wrap edges so the film line disappears
That's also why the installer matters more than the film brand. A $7,000 full body in the best film, installed with dirt nibs and lifted edges, is worth less than a clean $1,800 full front.
Is It Worth It?
The math is resale and repaint avoidance. A front-end respray on a modern car runs $1,500-$3,000 and shows on a paint meter at trade-in. Full-front PPF at $1,800 that eats five years of highway rock chips pays for itself on one avoided respray — which is why it's near-standard on new performance and luxury cars. (PPF vs wrapping the car instead? Different jobs — here's the breakdown.)
If the car is a 9-year-old commuter, partial front or nothing is the rational answer. PPF protects paint that's worth protecting.
Picking the Shop (This Is the Whole Game)
- •Ask what film line — XPEL Ultimate Plus, 3M Pro Series, SunTek Ultra are the established self-healing films with 10-year warranties
- •Ask if patterns are plotted or hand-cut — plotted patterns with hand-wrapped edges is the quality answer
- •Look at their PPF work specifically, up close, at edges and around sensors — wrap skill and PPF skill overlap but aren't identical
- •Get 2-3 quotes. Wraptor's directory lists rated shops with services and portfolios — request quotes from a few and compare what's included, not just the number. A proper quote itemizes coverage panel by panel.
A good shop will also tell you what NOT to buy. If the salesperson pushes full body on a base-trim daily, find a different shop.
